Poppy
Meet Poppy – A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Safe Place
Poppy is a 3-year-old Cane Corso x American Bulldog who is searching for a calm, understanding home where she can finally feel safe and loved.
This beautiful girl has been through a lot, and her sensitivity shows in the way she approaches the world. Her reactivity comes from nerves rather than aggression—she’s simply trying to keep herself safe. With patience, space, and kindness, Poppy begins to relax and show her true, affectionate nature.
3 years old
Approx. 35kg and continuing to build strength
Cane Corso x American Bulldog (best guess)
Arrived in our care on 6th February 2026
Once she feels safe, she is eager to please, responsive, and enjoys being part of a calm routine.
Settles beautifully indoors and sleeps through the night
No signs of separation anxiety
Clean in the house
Loves relaxing on the sofa in the evenings
Morning garden playtime
An afternoon walk (around an hour)
Quiet time mooching in the garden before settling for the night
She’s gaining strength every day and is now happily walking for up to an hour.
Knows “sit” and responds to her name
Can be redirected easily when unsure
Allows handling well (including ear drops and food bowl movement)
No signs of resource guarding
A calm, adult-only home
A secure garden where she can decompress and play safely
Owners who understand nervous/reactive dogs and will give her time and space
Slow, controlled introductions to new people
She may bark when feeling unsure (e.g., at strangers approaching the garden), but this is improving as she gains confidence.
Dog interactions: Unsure but manageable; would benefit from being the only dog or with very careful introductions, with the right dog, she may flourish.
Cats: Not suitable (will chase)
Small animals/birds: High chase drive
Currently regaining condition and muscle strength
Some fur regrowth ongoing
Eyes may need occasional cleaning
Ears treated as a precaution (she tolerated this well)
Poppy isn’t a “plug and play” dog—but she is a deeply rewarding one.
If you can offer her patience, understanding, and a safe space to grow, you’ll gain an incredibly loyal companion.
