Mr Big
BIG URGENTLY NEEDS A LONG-TERM FOSTER HOME
Our beautiful boy Big desperately needs your help. He urgently requires an experienced foster home — someone who can give him safety, understanding, and the stability he so badly needs.
We first learned about Big, a 4-year-old Dogue de Bordeaux, back in September when he was living on an allotment. He moved into an experienced foster home where he was neutered, vaccinated, and finally began gaining the weight he needed. We even found him what we hoped would be his forever home… but sadly, and completely unexpectedly, an incident occurred. Big was immediately removed. Full details will be disclosed to anyone genuinely able to offer him a foster space.
Following this, investigations revealed a suspected spinal compression. Unfortunately, he is not a surgical candidate. He deserved every chance, so we began medical management and a careful rehabilitation plan.
The good news is that Big has been doing incredibly well with his rehab. He is stronger than ever and continues to make progress — something we are so proud of. His condition means he must remain on minimal exercise, so he needs someone who can keep his busy mind fulfilled through enrichment, calm activities, structure, and by following his training plan.
Big has been through so much. He previously struggled with severe separation anxiety and has been behaviourally assessed. When his last foster placement broke down before Christmas, we had no choice but to place him in kennels. He has now been in kennels since before Christmas, and we are seeing him become more desperate.
While he is safe and cared for, kennels are not a long-term option for a dog like Big. It is breaking our hearts watching him wait. He needs a calm, experienced foster home where he can decompress and continue his progress. Behavioural support will be ongoing for whoever takes him.
Thanks to consistent rehab work and professional input, Big is progressing beautifully. Now he just needs the environment to match his effort.
What Big Needs:
• Secure garden access
• A home with one or two adults who are home most of the day
• Minimal physical exercise but plenty of mental enrichment
• No children living in or regularly visiting
• No other dogs or small animals
• Breed-experienced foster carer preferred
• Someone willing to support ongoing medical management
• Someone patient, committed, and unwilling to give up
Big will require meet and greets, so please only apply if you are based in the North East.
Please note: Big is not up for adoption at this time. He needs someone able to provide long-term foster care while we continue supporting his needs.
If you can offer Big the experienced, structured, and loving foster home he so desperately deserves, please message us.
He doesn’t need a miracle — he just needs the right person to step forward.
