Meet Duke – Your New Best Friend Beautiful Duke is a young Lurcher, approximately 2–3 years old, searching for a forever home where he can finally settle down and enjoy the life he deserves. Duke is an incredibly sweet, gentle and funny boy with the most loving nature. He absolutely adores people and has been friendly with everyone he has met — from family members and neighbours to complete strangers out on walks. He enjoys being close to his people, often following them from room to room, resting his head beside you on the sofa and “chatting” away with his adorable vocal personality. This handsome lad is very dog friendly and loves meeting other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He plays beautifully, respects boundaries well and has remained calm and social even when approached unexpectedly by off lead dogs. Duke can become quite vocal when excited to greet canine friends, but it’s all enthusiasm and excitement rather than bad manners. Duke enjoys long walks and exploring woodland trails, fields and nature paths, but he’s equally happy curling up at home afterwards for a nap. He walks beautifully on lead, travels perfectly in the car and is fully house trained. He’s currently working on his crate training and has already made fantastic progress in foster. Like many Lurchers, Duke does have some prey drive, so he will attempt to chase running cats, birds or rabbits. For this reason, he will need a home without small animals. Duke would suit either a first-time or experienced owner who can continue his positive reinforcement training and provide him with plenty of companionship. He forms strong bonds with his people and would be happiest in a home where someone is around for much of the day. He’s playful, cheeky, occasionally clumsy and full of character — the type of dog that makes you smile every single day.
